Just Another.....Knit!

Progress Report....I spent the better part of yesterday relaxing and knitting; a vacation day of sorts. I am now 45.3% complete with Peacock....don't think I'm ahead of schedule yet but maybe with some more serious knitting today.... Joan is going to absolutely love these socks! Hope to put in 2 hours of sock knitting today....will knit them at knitting tomorrow and may actually have one done by Sunday. Sounds like a plan ; )
I swatched for Icarus last night...just planning ahead ; ) and ordered yarn for another sweater for Bobby. I just couldn't resist a half price sale!

Another diversion.....Jackie and I will be selling fiber and sock yarn (Susan's Spinning Bunny) at the Florida Fiber In, September 15-17....Having never worked with targhee, I spun some up and knit the following sampler. I love it! It feels cushy and spongy - almost like chenille. I was hoping to showcase the beautiful colors of Susan's fibers....but didn't spin enough of it to do it justice. I love it anyway! I am now 28.2% complete with Peacock and haven't touched Joan's socks. I may try an hour a day of sock knitting. Definitely have the time......

This little bit of sock knitting represents an hour and a half "car knitting" with frequent cigarette breaks. I just hate the turnpike! I hoped to accomplish more but I was too exhausted to even think about knitting on the way home! On Thursday, even with packing, I found a few free hours to ply my merino/tencel singles. If I remember correctly, I now have 560 yards of lace weight. I am envisioning knitting "Icarus" from "Interweave Knits," the summer 2006 issue, with this hand spun yarn. But this is why I never finish anything. I flit from one project to the next. I am now 12% complete on Peacock Feathers.....not a whole lot of knitting going on! Definitely off schedule already............

After 2 days of very little knitting, I am happy to report that I am 7.2% finished with Peacock. At this rate, and with very little knitting, I should have the shawl complete in 16 days.Joan's birthday is right around the corner. I have wound Socks that Rock "Lemongrass" in to a ball and will begin knitting them this weekend. Four hours in the car makes for very good sock knitting time! Start date: 8/18. My socks have been put on hold unless I decide to give them to Joan as well. We'll see.

Next Up.....I always have socks on the needles for Saturday knitting. These are Wendy's "Generic Toe Up Pattern" in Socks that Rock, "Lagoon." This was my Fiddlesticks Knitting, "Peacock Feathers" Shawl - until yesterday. I painstakingly unknit four rows and saw a mistake 8 rows further down....I have no patience for unknitting that many rows so.....
I ripped it out. I am now up to row 30 and knitting happily along. I also discovered I was using size 6 needles.....I should have been using size 7's to get gauge....so....it's all good ; )

Pattern: Fiber Trends, Estonian Garden Wrap
Fiber: Alpaca/Merino/Silk purchased from Susan's Spinning Bunny. Spun lace weight, I got 835 yards from 6 ounces and have a small ball left over. I love the striping effect although I was not aiming for that when I started spinning. I think it is pretty nifty! I began knitting mid-May and just blocked it on 8/11.
